COURSE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

You will write two substantial papers on assigned topics, the first roughly 8-10 pages in length (2000-3000 words), and the second roughly 12-16 pages in length (3000-4000 words).  The first paper will be due at the beginning of class on Thursday, May 8.  The second paper will be due in my office [Bond Hall 302A] on Tuesday, June 10, between 9:00am-10:00am.  The first paper will be worth 2/5 of the final grade for the course, and the second paper will be worth 3/5 of the final grade for the course.

Please note my policy on late papers:  The deadline for submitting papers is 12:10pm for the first paper and 10:00am for the second.  After that -- it's late.  Unless you make prior arrangements with me, a late paper will be penalized two full letter grades if it is submitted within 24 hours of its deadline, and it will be penalized three full letter grades if it is submitted within the next 24 hour period.  I will not accept a paper submitted 48 hours after it is due.  Computers crash, disks fail, and computer labs get busy.  Plan ahead.
