What's happening today?
Jan 26, 1998.
The south outer-wall is in place, and the floor joists to support the inner-layer of flooring are being put together. The WWU sheet metal team has installed the overhead ventilation ducts, and will now await the final phase of construction before finishing their job. In the upper photo, you can see the floor of the lab, with joists installed. The lower photo provides a closer look.
What is it?
- The magnetostatic shield (a.k.a. "field-free room") provides a low-magnetic field environment in which detailed measurements of the magnetism of rocks can be made.
- This page will be updated daily, so you can see how these things are built. When the project is finished (mid-Feb., 1998), an animation of these photos will be put together for your viewing pleasure.
