For Book Groups

Brenda is happy to visit any book group that is reading one of her books. She can discuss the writing process and answer any questions from participants. If the group is within Whatcom county, there would be no charge. Outside of Whatcom county, within 100 miles, she asks just for travel expenses.

For Writing Groups

Brenda has nine years experience teaching creative nonfiction writing at Western Washington University. She has also led many summer writing workshops and seminars at such venues as Writers at Work, Hamline Summer Writing Workshop, Northwestern University, and the Rainier Writing Workshop. She can visit your existing writing group, or lead a writing workshop on many different aspects of creative nonfiction writing, from mining early memories to the use of lyric forms in nonfiction work. Her fee is negotiable.

Testimonials

"I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful week in the Sturm workshop. I felt your workshop helped me break open feelings that have held back my writing. Working with you has been a gift."

"I would like tell you how much I enjoyed the conference with you at St. Olaf...You created a warm and encouraging atmosphere that generated interesting discussion and much good writing from the class members. I especially enjoyed the 30-minute conference with you. Your comments about my piece have sparked new ideas about the direction I want to take this piece."
