|
One of the best recreational activities in the area is simply to ride the Washington State Ferries to various destinations in the San Juan Islands. (Friday Harbor on San Juan Island is a good destination for a day trip, and Lopez Island is especially good for cycling.) |

Another good option is to take a ride on scenic Chuckanut Drive. (This could be combined with a hike in beautiful Larrabee State Park.) |
|
Or you could take a one-day cruise from Bellingham to Victoria, B.C. (pictured on the right); the route through the San Juan Islands is particularly beautiful, and there is the possibility of seeing eagles, whales, and other wildlife. |

River rafting and sea kayaking are also possibilities. So is a whale watching cruise. |
| There are many cabins
and houses for rent in the Mt. Baker area.
There is also (apparently) a lot of good fishing in the vicinity. |
