PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

1975-76 Research associate on a student originated study grant under the auspices of the National Science Foundation. Grant title: The Effect of Synthetic Estrogens on Hypertension and Serum Lipoproteins in Rats. This was a biochemical study involving: electrophoresis, tissue preparation for histochemical analysis, small animal surgery, blood pressure measurement (polygraph).

1976 Research assistant under the Gerry Fellowship awarded to Marjorie Kraus, Ph.D.: microbiological analysis, ultracentrifugation, preparations of algae cultures and tissue cultures, irradiation and counting to develop an assay for use by sanitation engineers to test for virulent viruses in/about sewer plants.

1976-77 Research assistant at the Noll Laboratory for Human Performance Research under a biomedical grant for analysis of levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, and uric acid in serum using automated techniques with the Technicon Auto-analyzer.

1977 Research assistant under a gerontology grant to construct a FITT trail for those fifty years of age and older.

1977 Research assistant under an obesity grant to study the sleeping patterns of obese versus normal weight women.

1977 Research assistant to a Rapid Smoking Study funded by the National Institute of Health to study the physiological effects of rapid smoking programs: electrocardiographic analysis, blood pressure, cardiac output (impedance method), serum nicotine levels, carboxyhemoglobin levels, and amount of carbon monoxide in expired air.
